NEW YORK: Sikh Cultural Society at its General Body meeting on March 16, 1986 decided to suspend those of its members who had participated in the Indian Independence Parade last year. Through another resolution the Sangat unanimously debarred those members of the old Managing Committee from holding any office of the committee for the next five years who had reportedly resorted to the closure of Gurdwara Richmond on February 22, 1985 in order to exclude 491 of its members from exercising their right to participate in the annual elections. The Gurdwara, however, was opened on February 24, 1985 by some other members of the Managing Committee.

The resolution to debar them was moved by Dr, (Mrs.) Naunihal Singh and seconded by Dr. Dhami, and resolution to suspend those who had participated in the Indian Independence Parade was moved by Mrs, Harinder Kaur and seconded by S, Harbhajan Singh Gill, Both the resolutions were passed unanimously as reported to World Sikh News by the President of Sikh Cultural Society.
