WASHINGTON, D.C. The Sikh community in the United States of America was shocked by the disgraceful manner in which the Sikhs were associated with the mock plane hijacking exercise in India. While the desirability of the exercise is not questionable, the implication that Sikhs are going to be involved in air piracy is slander which the government of India is deliberately directing at the Sikhs. This is another example of the well-orchestrated efforts of the government of India to paint law abiding and peaceful Sikhs as a group of irresponsible “terrorists’”. Such acts on the part of the government of India are bound to make it impossible to find a solution for the Punjab problem.
