“But I am afraid I can’t tell you who these gentlemen are and what exactly they told me” Shekhar told the English daily Muslim’ in an interview published Thursday.

He said it was “unfortunate” that one dynasty should be controlling the destiny of the world’s largest democracy for so long.

“This is neither in the interest of the nation nor in the long term interest of that family for the simple reason that it smacks of a certain type of manipulation. And that is against the spirit of democracy” he said.
