Senior Indian Official Sheds Crocodile Tears On Harassment Of Sikhs
AMRITSAR, Punjab, India: The Joint Secretary of Government of India for Internal security R.S. Sethi has directed the security forces, to stop harassment of the people and learn to differentiate between the real offenders and innocent people. Mr. Sethi, who is on Punjab tour, was talking to the security officers, after touring the border areas of Amritsar and Gurdaspur districts. Mr. Sethi said that he had entrusted the executive and the judicial magistrates to draw out a list of the educated people between the age group of 2030 years, so that they could be provided some employment.
Mr. Sethi also told the pressmen that he will recommend some steps to the Governor to improve: the situation on the basis of his assessment of the situation after the tour of these areas. Mr. Sethi was surprised to know that peace: committees meetings are only held, when some-body as important person is killed.
