STOCKTON, Ga.: Sikh sangat of Stockton held a “Sehaj Path” and Ardas on Sunday, the 14th of June, 1987, for the freedom and “Chardi Kala” of the two young Sikhs, Ranjit Singh Gill and Sukhvinder Singh Sandhu, who were arrested in New Jersey by the F.B.I. on the basis of a diplomatic report by the Indian authorities. It was alleged in the report that they were involved in acts of violence leading to the murder of a Member of Parliament and Gen. Vaidya.
As reported earlier, government of India is falsely implicating members of the All India Sikh Student Federation in murder cases. Ranjit Singh and Sukhvinder Singh are important functionaries of the Federation and have brilliant academic records, Ranjit Singh was studying for MSc. degree in Genetics while Sukhvinder was studying for Masters in Geography.
- Jagjit Singh Boparai, President Stockton Gurdwara, S. Hardyal Singh Dhatt and Dr. Gurinder Singh Grewal addressed the congregation. Dr. Grewal listed the academic accomplishments of the two young men.
- Gurdial Singh of Panth KhaIsa Radio also spoke on the occasion. He emphasized the need for developing the media for projecting truth about the Sikh religion and the problems faced by Sikhs. On his appeal for support to the Panth Khalsa Radio, ten persons volunteered to make regular contributions.
