NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court extended the tenure of Vijay Rama Rao, CBI director, up to July 31, in order to avoid any gap in the progress of investigations in Chandraswami’s case as well as the hawala matter; Vijjay Rama Rao was to demit office on April 30.

The two judge beach comprised of Justice J.S. Verma and BN, Kirpal, granted this three month extension, until the new government took over and made a permanent appointment to the office of the CBI director.
