NEW DELHI: S. Satwant Singh the surviving assassin of Indira Gandhi on Monday filed a review petition in the Supreme Court of India against its August 3 verdict upholding the Delhi High Court Judgment. The 98 page petition which include61 pages of written submission to set aside S. Satwant Singh’s conviction and sentence and order his acquittal or fresh trial in the lower court was moved by RS. Sodhi the Attorney of the 24 years old convict, S. Satwant Singh.
It may be recalled that the 3 member’s bench of the Supreme Court freed S. Balbir Singh, sentenced to death for plotting the assassination of Indira Gandhi but confirmed the death penalty on S. Satwant Singh and s. Kehar Singh on August 3, 1988.
