LOS ANGELES,CA: Sardar Lakhbir Singh Chima who passed away on May 18, 1995, had Antam Ardas on May 28, at Gurdwara of Los Angeles, North Hollywood, CA. Thousands of friends, relatives and Sikh leaders flew in from various countries to pay homage 10 the departed soul. Akhand Path was held at the family estate and Diwan was held at the Gurdwara, Lankersheim Blvd., Hollywood, After Kirtan by Bi Gurdip Singh, Bhai Rasia and Bhai Jaspal Singh over 20 speakers paid respect’s and praised positive contributions of Sardar Chimato the Sikh Cause and humanity in general, S. Gurcharan Singh Dhillon described S. Chima as ‘great father, loving husband and prolific donor to the world, S, Didar Singh Bains, president of World Sikh Organization said that S. Chima has left « gap in the organization which can never be fulfilled. He presented “Siropa” to his son Rajinder Singh Chima requesting him to carry on the noble mission of his father to serve Sikh cause. Dr, Harbans Singh Sraon, President WSO, USA. presented Meritorious award of excellence in service by giving “past of his life” to the Sikh cause, Sardar Bains gave this posthumous award to Sardarni Palvinder Kaur Chima, and praised her ‘encouragement and cooperation for the noble cause, Dr. Gurinder Singh Grewal, president of World Sikh News called S. Chima a generous donor for his contributions towards Sikh media. S. Sukhcharan Singh Cheema remembered S. Chima as sincere friend and fearless and straightforward leader. Dr. Guam Singh Panu, a friend for 15 years, praised S. Chima’s contribution towards Sikh unity.

Giani Joginder Singh Bains represented WSO Canada, and conveyed condolences on behalf of Canadian Sikhs and appealed to all to carry out the good work initiated by S. Chima S. Devinder Singh of Babbar International paid homage to S. Chima on behalf of the organization. Dr. Jodh Singh, Dean at Panjabi University, Patiala spoke of §.Chima as kind and giving Gursikh,S, Gurnam Singh Pamma, Senior V.P. WSO.USA paid homage so. Chima by saying that anybody who met 8. Chima ‘was impressed by his friendliness and generosity. Other speakers, namely S. Mohinder Singh, owner/editor India Journal, S. Jaswant S. Dhillon, Dr. Baikar Singh, Dr. Amrit Singh, S. Swaran Singh Bakersfield, Amarjit S. Dhillon, Kirtan Singh, Bahadur Singh, Jasbir S. Tung, Baba Gurbachan Singh Kamliwala spoke highly of S. Chima. Surinder S. Sidhu, Sikh Youth of ‘America, read letter of condolence sent by Jathedar Sahib Akal Takhat, Prof Manjit Singh and Sikh scholars who, were touched by S. Chima and his service to the community, kind nature and deep faith in God.

The program was concluded by an old friend, Jagat Singh Jagga who read an ‘emotional poem saying farewell 10 2 dear friend. “Antam Ardas’ and Hukemnama were read after6p.m.,and Guru Ka Langar was served.
