NEW DELHI: installation of a “Hindu friendly” government at the Center is high on the priority of the Sangh Parivar as the recent Supreme Court judgments and the Prime Minister, P.V. Narasimha Rao’s approach to the Ayodhya issue have left the Parivar in ho doubt that only a Government committed to cultural Nationalism will be in a position to. Enact a law to hand over the disputed site to the Hindus for the construction of the temple.
A broad framework of the Parivar’s action plan is likely to be thrashed out at a brainstorming five day enclave of top RSS leaders to be held at Bombay from November 1. The detailed strategy will, of course, be worked out later in consultation with senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janta Party, the banned Vishwa Hindu Parishad and other sister organizations, insiders point out.
The VHP supremo, Ashok Singhal, lambasted the Law Minister, H.R, Bhardwaj, for misleading public opinion by claiming that the Government was free to hand over the undisputed: land to any trust, He said the Parishad had convinced dharma charya that even the undisputed land could not be transferred till the disposal of the title suits. In the event of the new trust not collapsing as per Parivar’s expectations, the Sant Sammelan called by the Parishad at Allahabad during the Ardh Kumbhin the second half of January will try to evolve a consensus among religious Leaders to set up an apex body comprising eminent sants belonging to both the trusts. Besides the Shankaracharyas on the Ramalya Trust, the apex body may have on it sants belonging to Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas like Jagatguru Vaseevananda, Swami Nritya Gopaldas of Ayodhya and Swami Ram Chandra Paramhans, according to Singhal.
‘The VHP, it is pointed out, is not interested in the proprietary nights or the management of the proposed temple. But it is keen to be associated with the construction of the temple as it had been in the vanguard of the temple movement and had collected several crore of rupees from the masses for the construction of the temple and was determined to utilize these funds only for that purpose.
