New Delhi— The Supreme Court on December 20, directed that former LP.S. officer, S. Simranjit Singh, should not be rearrested under the National Security Act detention order which has been quashed by the Punjab and Haryana High Court. A division bench comprising Chief Justice P.N. Lakhwati, Mr. Justice P.C. Bhagwat and Mr, Justice P.L. Ogha directed that there would be no stay of High Court judgment relating to the release of Mr. Mann. Mr. Mann was detained early this year for allegedly trying to escape into Nepal. He was released from the Bharatpur jail but was rearrested by the Maharashtra police the same day.
