ANANDPUR SAHIB, INDIA: The: S.G.P.C seems determined on implementing its decision to replace all five head priests. It took a major initiative to install Bhal Balbir Singh as the Jathedar of Takht Shri Kesh Garh Sahib, Anandpur Sahib In place of Bhal Swinder Singh Who is in jail along with other head’ priests. Bhai Balbir Singh 58, formerly a head Granth at Takht Shri Kesh Garh Sahib was one of the new five head priests appointed by SGPC at its controversial meeting at Amritsar on May 30, 1988, the outgoing priest Bhal Swinder Singh was appointed by the militants at the Sarbat Khalsa held on Diwali last year in the Golden Temple. He belonged to the Damdami Taksal. The installation ceremony of Bhai Balbir Singh took place yesterday in the presence of Glan Singh assistant secretary of SGPC and Harinder Singh manager Gurdwara Kesh Garh Sahib. A large number of people converged at the ceremony. Daya Singh delivered the appointment letter of Bhai Balbir Singh and asked him to take over immediately. The SGPC’s order signed by Bhan Singh, its secretary, had with It a copy of the resolution adopted by SGPC meeting on May 30, 1988.
