CHANDIGARH: Militants made a rocket attack on a BSF patrol party at Aliwal in Batala police district last night. The BSF party had a narrow escape when the militants fired a rocket from a portable rocket launcher. However, it missed the target, but slightly damaged the house of Mr. Chander Mohan.

Dr. Piara Singh shot dead one of the two persons who assaulted and injured his son at Bhogpur in Jalandhar district today.

Fourteen militants and their harbourers, including Babbar Khalsa leader Kundan Singh of Dabbawali village were arrested in Batala police district and a large quantity of arms and ammunition allegedly seized.

‘An unspecified number of militants armed with AK-47 rifles exchanged fire with jawans at a special police officer’s naka post in Madhu Sanga village in Majitha police district (Amritsar) last night.

The police said another group of militants later ambushed a police party led by the DSP of Ramdas which headed for the encounter site.

No casualties were however reported.

The Ferozepur police arrested two militants Jarnail Singh and Sukhchain and allegedly recovered a revolver, a pistol and some cartridges from them.
