LONDON, May 10, Reuter: Four Sikhs were injured and 40 arrested today when two rival Sikh groups fought inside. Temple with swords, ice picks and daggers, police said.
A spokesman said’ the trouble broke out during a regular Sunday meeting at the Temple of Crabtree Manor Way in Belvedere, Southeast London, when a rival group interrupted the election of Temple officials.
She said the rival group armed with ceremonial swords, can picks and daggers, burst into the temple, where 1’50 people, including women and children, were assembled. Sixty policemen broke up the fighting and recovered some of the weapons, she added.
The injured had all suffered stab wounds and one of them was in a serious condition, police said.
