CHANDIGARH: The human rights organizations and some political parties have demanded the release of TADA delaines ill over the country. “These organizations, at a meeting at Gurdwara Parivar Vichhora in Ropar district last week, decided to submit a memorandum to the President of India demanding the release of the detainees, including the under trials, The meeting demanded that the respective state governments should come ‘out with the antecedents of the detainees arguing that they were being denied transparency and accountability.

Through a resolution, the meeting called upon the President to promulgate an Ordinance for the release of these detainees after the withdrawal of TADA. Inderjit Singh Jaijee, convener of the Movement against State Repression, said Sant Ajit Singh, who convened the meeting, would lead a team of the human rights active jading some from Delhi, to the President. He said it was also decided to move & petition in the Supreme Court on this issue. He said subcommittees of the ho man rights activists would visit various states to meet the respective Chief Ministers and get complete details about these detainees.

An 11 member working committee was also constituted under the chairmanship of Sant Ajit Singh. The members include Ajit Singh Bains, Jaijee, Gurtey Singh, Gurdev Singh, Mrs.Sukhjit Kaur Gill, Mrs, Baljit Kaur Gill, Col. Partap Singh, Gurdarshan Singh Dhillon and Sucka Singh, Chhotepur. The representatives of the Akali Dal (Mann), Bahujan Jamaj Party and the Bharti Kisan Union also attended.
