NEW DELHI: “Operation. Rhino” against the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) will remain suspended for another fortnight according to a decision taken by the home ministry here Friday.

The Army operation against the ULFA was initially suspended for a fortnight which ended Friday. The ULFA was to have utilized this time to communicate to its cadres the intention of the ULFA leaders to return to the national main-stream. They were to have collectively taken a decision to this affect.

However it appears that the ULFA needs a little more time to carry out this exercise. The Center has agreed to extend the deadline by fortnight to facilitate the ULFA in mobilizing the activists and have them decided to lay down arms shun the path of violence and adhere to the Constitution of India.
