PHAGWARA: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Gurcharan Singh Tohra, who is a member of both the three member subcommittee entrusted with the task of setting up the organization of the Shiromani Akali Dal and also of nine member unity panel which constituted the subcommittee, said on June 18 that the party organizational structure would be reorganized shortly.

Asked at a Press conference in the rest house here as to who would convene the meeting to thrash out organization setup of the party. Mr. Tohra quipped Mr. Bagarian should convene it, but added it was yet to be decided whether the subcommittee or the unity panel should meet to decide the issue.

Tohra, however, claimed that the Akali unity had been forged and he appreciated the efforts of the Akal Takht acting jathedar Manjit Singh in this respect. Significantly, Tohra and his party senior colleague Sukhjinder Singh met Prof Manjit Singh in the rest house shortly before the SGPC chief called journalists.

It, however, could not be ascertained as to what transpired between Tohra and Prof Manjit Singh.

Sukhjinder Singh was also present during their closed door meeting, the party sources said,

Prof Manjit Singh later left for Amritsar, the sources said, adding he had come from Chandigarh. But they said they did not know whether the meeting between the Akal Takht Jathedar and Tohra was planned or a mere coincidence, Tohra and Sukhjinder Singh were, however, on a visit to nearby village Chak Prema where they later addressed a religious congregation.
