PATIALA: Sandeep Brar of Patiala pedaled to glory, creating new records in all the four events in the women’s section of the two-day Punjab State Seniors and Juniors Cycling Championships held at the Punjabi University track here yesterday She won the gold in the 1000 meters time trial, clocking a record time of one minute 28.60 seconds and repeated her feat in the 3000 meters individual pursuit with four minutes 50.50 seconds. She completed the sweep, winning the gold medal in the 30 km road race with a time of one hour six minutes and 52.10 seconds.

 

Cheema brothers from Patiala Balraj and Sukhraj shared the top honours in the ‘men’s section, winning three and one individual events. Ravinderpal Singh of Patiala won two of the three events in the under 16 boys section, while Maninder Singh Sindhu, also of Patiala won both the events in the under 14 boys group. It was Patiala’s Khushwant Kaur who excelled in the two events conducted in the under 16 girls category.
