CHANDIGARH: Contrary to findings of the Punjab Police, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has established use of RDX in the bomb that Killed Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh and 18 others on August 31 here, Analysis by the scientists has revealed that RDX was mixed with oil and jargon to give it a paste like form. This was done to fit in the belt which was worn around the waist by the human bomb, The RDX was not used in any initial casing. In case of a casing, one side has to be kept open to give a particular direction to the explosive, according to experts. The RDX is originally available in shape of bricks of 500 gms, they add. ‘A senior CBI officer in Delhi when contacted said the use of RDX was

“established by two different forensic laboratories which had been engaged ‘to help the investigations, The scientists of both the laboratories conducted ‘the tests independently. After receipt of their reports, it was established that RDX had been used in the bomb, he added.

CBI sources further confirmed that traces of PETN were also found on ‘bodies of the slain Chief Minister and Dr. Anil Duggal, CM’s personal physician. The limbs and blown off skull of the alleged human bomb also carried traces of it.
