Chandigarh — October ‘Speaker during the Akali 15: Ravi Inder Singh, Akali Dal member from Morinda Constituency in Ropar district, was unanimously elected speaker of the Punjab Assembly (Vidhan Sabha). Ravi Inder Singh is the nephew of late S. Baldev Singh, the first Defense Minister of India. He was Janata Coalition government from 1977 to June 1980.
S.Ravi Inder Singh is reportedly close to the Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and is believed to have played a significant role in the RajivLongowal accord.
