LONDON (PTI): Renowned Punjabi singer Sunder Kaur has given a series of scintillating concerts of Punjabi folk songs across United Kingdom attracting large crowds of people of Indian and Pakistani origin.
Surinder Kaur is currently on a tour of the UK and USA which coincides with the 50th anniversary celebrations of her singing career.
Born in Lahore in 1929, Surinder Kaur, who received early training from Ustad Inayat Khan in Lahore, started singing at the age of 13 and
has ever since sung for radio and films both in India and Pakistan. She has travelled extensively all over the world and has given innumerable recitals of the legendary Punjabi folk songs.
Accompanied in the singing by her daughter Dolly Guleria and her granddaughter Sunaini Guleria, Surinder Kaur gave a series of concerts in different parts of London, Leicester and Birmingham.
She gave a special recital ‘An evening of Punjabi folk songs’ before a packed house at the Nehru Center of the Indian high commission.
