LUDHIANA: Former Punjab chief secretary Amrik Singh Pooni was elected president of the Punjabi Sahit Academy when he defeated his rival Satinder Singh Noor with a margin of 41 votes.
Parminder Singh retained his hold as general secretary by trouncing Surjit Singh Kanwal by a big margin of 164 votes.
Others elected were: Harcharan Singh senior vice president, Deepak ‘Manmohan Singh, Gurbhajan Gilland Ajai Chitrankar (all vicepresidents), and S. Tarsem, S.S. Narula, Inderjit Hassanpuri, Kirpai Singh Kosel, Prem Singh Bajaj, Mahinderdeep Grewal, Ravinder Bhathal, Raj Kumar Garg, Kulwant Japraon and Guriqbal Singh
(all executive members).
