Punjab Govt. removed Mr. K.S. Dhillon, Chief of State Police on account of his moral responsibility for the assassination of Sant Longowal and appointed Mr. Satish Pandey an Uttar Pardesh Police Officer as new Director General of State police. Govt. has also extended strict security arrangements for the safety of several Akali leaders including Mr. Barnala, Balwant Singh, Mr. Ravi Inder Singh and Sant Ajit Singh. Any visitor to the house of these leaders is to pass through metal detectors. Searchlights have been installed on the houses of these leaders and the Govt. has provided them with electricity generating sets for use in any emergency.
