LONDON: The Punjab Human Rights Organization (PHRO) has established its Branch in the U.K. formed a 11 member executive committee and set up an office at Hounslow.

This was stated here today by Mr. DS. Gill (Advocate) General Secretary of the PHRO based in Punjab which has as its Chairman Mr. Justice A.S. Bains and President Mr. Justice CS. Tiwana, both former Judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

According to Mr. Gill, the 11 member executive committee of the U.K. Branch comprising Mr.

Harjit Singh Barrister (President) Mr. Maluk Singh Chhuhan Barrister (Vice President) Mr. Inderjit Singh (Vice President) Dr. S.S. Athwal (Secretary) Mr. Joginder Singh Grewal (Joint Secretary) and Mr. Manjit Singh (Coordinator) as officer bearers has been constituted at a meeting held here yesterday. Other executive membersare Dr. Amarpreet Singh Chahal (F.R.CS), Mrs. Pritam Kaur Brar, Mr. Ajit Singh Chauhan, Mr. Ranjit Singh Brar and Mohinder Singh Chandhok.

 The meeting was chaired by Mr. Harjit Singh and also attended by Mr. D’S. Gill as an observer, who is presently in the U.K. on an official visit on behalf of the PHRO.

The office has been set up at 70 Staines Road, Hounslow, Middx TW3 3LF (Tel: 015696469, Fax: 015729900)

It was decided at the meeting to publish all the previous PHRO reports in form of booklets for the information and consumption in Europe. It was also decided to lobby the appropriate organizations and Governments throughout Europe to highlight the human Rights violations in the state of Punjab Mr. Gill added.
