CHANDIGARH: In spite of protests and disputes from every comer, fancied Punjab retained the men’s title while Haryana lifted the women’s crown in the seventh National Circle Kabaddi Championships which concluded at the Sector7 Sports Complex here this evening,

In the men’s final Punjab defeated Haryana 4718 (3615),

Punjab who comprise the Mandikaran Board team, dominated throughout Ioternational players Surinderpal “Toni” Sa bajit Singh Saba” Tarsem Singh “Sama” and Mukhuair “Pappu” played the riders while well-built Harpreet Singh, Gurmect Singh “Katto” Ranjit Singh Rana and Surinder Singh Kala stopped the Haryana raiders.

In the second half the Haryana boys did try to mend matters, but could not stabilize themselves against the Punjab riders attacks.

Earlier in the semifinals, Punjab registered an easy 205 win over Chandigarh, Haryana refused to play against PEPSU on the ground that PEPSU are not affiliated to the national body. The Organizing Committee conceded the point and declared Haryana winners in the semifinals.
