NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court last week dismissed in timine a public interest petition seeking prosecution of the Director General of Punjab Police K.P.S. Gill, for the alleged assault on two journalists here recently, saying the petitioner had no locus standi in the matter.

A Division Bench of the High Court said the Lawyers Forum for Civil Liberties (LFCL), which had moved the petition, was not a representative of the two sports reporters of “The Statesman,” who had full liberty to approach the court.

The judges observed the two journalists Concerned were themselves in a position to seek appropriate remedy in respect of the alleged incident In any case, they were pursuing the matter in their own way and the authorities responsible for the enforcement of law were already enquiring into the matter, they said.
