MODESTO, CA: The inaugral Gura Nanak Dev Tournament gets underway at the Ceres High School, Ceres, here on Saturday and Sunday March 11th and 12th 1989.
This tournament is being organized. The Sikh Youth Federation of North ‘America (California Chapter).
Dr. Ajitpal Singh Sandhu, (Adhoc President) and Mr. Naranjan Singh Samra (Adhoc convener) told WSN that they are overwhelmed by the focal Sikh youths response to the event. Both of them are confident of the tournaments success.
They said preparations are in full swing.
Teams will complete in Kabaddi, Field hockey, soccer, volleyball, basketball. Athletics to will be there for individuals.
The Kabaddi players from England are expected in San Francisco on March 9th, they will be bringing their senior and junior teams. A big reception will be given to them. The organizers feel that an interesting feast of traditional Punjabi sports is in the offing.
