QUEBEC CITY: Mr. Jacques Parizeau, premiere of Quebec resigned Tuesday after the French speaking minority lost its referendum to create a separate country on the east coast of Canada, during his farewell speech he said that it was now the responsibility of the younger generation to take on this issue, Great surprise was expressed in Canadian political circles. Mr. Parizeau also offered his regrets for comments that he made indicating that he had held ethnic minorities and their fundraising responsible for the loss. Former Premiere, Bob Rae had said that Mr. Parizeau must have been drunk to make such statements, an allegation that was denied in his resignation speech. Markets in Canada showed signs of heating up when the Canadian dollar rose in trading on Tuesday and as the National Banks of Canada dropped the prime rate almost a point ‘and a half.
