New Delhi: Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao has warned Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to ask his country’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to stop encouraging the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA).

In a communiqué to Islamabad Rao has produced “evidence” (photograph and a video) of the links. The evidence also shows that ULFA Commander-in-chief Paresh Barua holds a Pakistani passport in addition to his Indian passport. Barua recently held talks with IST men in Hong Kong at which the Pakistanis instigated ULFA militants to blast oil refineries in Assam with the arm of scouting the ongoing peace talks.

Thanks to the timely warning of the Central Government. Assam Chief Minister Hiteswar Saikia could provide special protection for the refineries thus ensuring that the peace talks there not sabotaged.

ULFAs General Council is to meet on March 23.nd24to finalize its stand on talks with the Central and State Government.

Barua met ISI agents in several places including Bangladesh The Indian Government informed Bangladeshi Foreign Minister M. Rahaman during his recent visit to India of the frequent presence of Barua in Bangladesh. Though Bangladesh assured the Indian Government that it will take action it has done nothing so far according to unity.

Apart from Bangladesh Barua has been seen in Hong Kong and Bangkok. He was also in Singapore for three days in the first week of March.

Meanwhile the Cabinet Secretariat is also alarmed over Pakistani diplomats seeking permission from the foreign office to visit Derala and Tamil Nadu Recently two senior Pakistani diplomats visited Madras and Trivandrum.
