AHEDABAD: Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar Monday ruled out any possibility of a mid-term poll in the country.

Talking to newsmen in this city of Gujarat state Chandra Shekhar said the press reports about Congress-I withdrawing support to his government had no basis.

Chandra Shekhar’s minority Janata Dal-S government is being supported by Congress-I from outside.

Asked if Congress-I had given any guarantee that it would support his ministry for only one year the prime minister said there was no such guarantee. He said he did not foresee withdrawal of support to his government by Congress-l and so we are not worried.

The prime minister said the JD(S) ministry was functioning effectively and it would continue to do so.
