NEW DELHI: The current situation in Punjab, Kashmir and‘  Assam was reviewed at a meeting of leaders of major political parties here on Dec 5.

The meeting was convened by the Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar to discuss Babri Masjid dispute.

‘An official spokesman said that another meeting would be convened later this week to discuss in detail the problems in the three states, where thousands have died because of secessionist violence.

The meeting would undertake an elaborate review of the situation in Punjab. The invitees to the meeting would include presidents of various political parties from the state.

Shekar agreed to call an all-party meeting on Punjab after a discussion with representatives of left parties from the state, according to the CPI (M) polite bureau member, Surjeet.

The meeting with left representatives will take place in a couple of days, he said while briefing the press about the meeting of major political parties convened by the prime minister here Dec5.

The meeting was convened to discuss the Babri Masjid controversy and progress made by the government towards finding a solution to the vexed problem.
