NEW DELHI: The Prime Minister, P.V.Narasimha Rao, July 28 held consultations with the BJP leader, L.K.Advani, and the Telegu Desam chief, N.T. Ramarao, in connection with the nomination for the time of the Vice-President election for which is due to take place on August 19.
Barring the BJP, all other opposition parties have more or less decided to back the Congress nominee, K.R. Narayanan, for the post.
The BJP is likely to announce its decision soon. Indication was that Narayanan may emerge as the unanimous choice of all the parties.
Unless the BJP wants to field its nominee only for the sake of a fight, it may refrain from the contest as all other opposition parties are inline to vote for post.
