VANCOUVER: The Parkash Diwan (illumination day) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji and Shaheedi Smagam was celebrated at Gurdwara Khalsa Diwan Society Ross Street on Sunday August 30,1992 by almost all the prominent Sikh Societies.
In his introductory speech, Bhai Avtar Singh Sandhu, general secretary Diwan Society, explained the significance of SriGuru Granth Sahib and also paid homage to the Sikh martyrs, who laid down their lives for the cause of Khalistan, President, Bhai Kundan Singh Sajjan also paid respectful homage to the Sikh martyrs and thanked all the Sikh societies for uniting together and making the Samagam a grand success.
Prominent speakers expressed their anguish at the atrocities committed on the Sikhs by Indian security forces and appealed to all Sikhs to unite all over the world to achieve Khalistan,
Homage was paid to Shaheed Bhai Sukhdev Singh Babbar, Chief of Babbar Khalsa International and Shaheed Bhai Rachhpal Singh Chandran Chief of Bhindranwale Tigers Force; Shaheed Bhai Gurjant Singh Budh Singhwala and all other martyrs. Speaking on the occasion were Dr. Amarjit Singh U.S.A., Bhai Gurdev Singh Babbar England, Bhai Jagtar Singh Sandhu .S.Y.F., Bhai Ajaib Singh Bagri Babbar Khalsa, Bhai Satinderpal Singh Panthak Committee, Bhai Darbara Singh Gill International Human Rights Association Punjab, Bhai Gian Singh Sandhuex-President W.S.O,, Bhai Santa Singh Taule, Bhai Sukhdev Singh Jatana Abbotsford, Bhai Balbir Singh Nijjar W.S.O. President B.C, Chapter, Bhai Manjit Singh Dhani President gurdwara Surrey Delta, Bhai Daljit Singh Sandhu ex-President Khalsa Diwan Society and Bhai Sohan Singh Bains.
