NEW YORK, NY: Sikh community gathered at Long Island NY to participate in the marriage ceremony of S. Paramjit Singh s/o S, Jaimal Singh Bathla with Gurpreet Kaur D/o S. Kartar Singh ‘on September 10.

Paramjit Singh the groom is a businessman who has won many a friend in the expatriate community here with his pleasant demeanor and self-effacing personality. His brother S. Balwinder Singh is well known in Punjabi literary circles ‘of the city and has a computer business. The bride Gurpreet Kaur hails from a well-known business family of Jalandhar and has been helping her brother S. Amarjit Singh and S. Kamaljit Singh to run their “fair deal appliances “store in Jackson Hts. Queens.

Giani Gurdeep Singh, head priest of the Sikh Cultural Society Richmond Hill performed the Anand Karaj ceremony which was held at the Sitar restaurant in Long, Island. Kirtan, recitation of holy hymns from the Guru Granth Sahib was performed by the Jatha of Bhai Lal Singh.

Speaking on’ the occasion S. Pargat Singh Matharu general secretary of Sikh Cultural Society recounted his long friendship with both the families. He said both shared similar positive values which not only made the match a perfect one but also lay the foundation of a long and happy married life.
