ISLAMABAD, Sept 15, Reuter: Pakistan is sending 550,000 dollars’ worth of wheat to flood victims in Bangladesh, a foreign ministry spokesman said on Thursday.

A ship will leave Karachi for Dhaka on September 25. A C130 Hercules plane will also leave shortly for Bangladesh carrying 330,000 dollars’ worth of medicine and a team of Doctors is being assembled.

Bangladesh, formerly East Pakistan, declared itself independent from West Pakistan (Present Day Pakistan) in 1971 after a civil war. Both territories were carved out of Moslem majority areas of the British ruled Indian subcontinent.
