CALCUTTA: Mr. Jagmohan Dalmiya secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India said here any initiative 10 revive Pakistan cricket team’s tour of India can be taken only after receiving official communication from the Pakistani board.

Reacting to an Islamabad report in which Mr Arif Abbasi secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in Pakistan had said Pakistan was ready to undertake a short tour of India Mr Dalmiya said “We are yet to receive any such suggestion.

The Pakistani board had earlier called off its full-fledged tour of India on security grounds.

Mr Dalmiya said any such proposal from the Pakistan board would not be accepted by the Indian board without getting clearance from the government of India.

“We cannot talk through the press and if Mr Abbasi hasany proposal of reviving the tour then he should write to me so that we can take it up with the Indian government for clearance” Mr Dalmiya said.

Mr Abbasi had said Pakistan was ready to undertake a short tour of southern India whereas in the earlier programme Pakistan were scheduled to play five Test matches and six one-day internationals all over the country.

Pakistan said they were prepared to consider reviving a cricket tour to India postponed because of communal violence there.

“We have kept the doors open for negotiations with the Indian cricket board” Arif Ali Khan Abbasi secretary of the Board for Control of Cricket in Pakistan (BCCP) said.

“There are several possibilities including a short tour by Pakistan to India’s southern states”
