LAHORE: Pakistan delighted a meagre 5,000 crowd by defeating Spain 40 on the third day of the 10th champions’ trophy hockey tournament on Sunday to move above the Spaniards into second place in the Round Robin table.

Although they dominated the entire match against a Spanish team that played a containing game, Pakistan scored just once in the first half, Qazi Mohib converting a penalty stroke awarded when Zahid was tripped.

After two series, holders West Germany are now the only team with maximum points, Pakistan have three points and Australia are in third place with two.
