PASADENA, CA: Phyun Kwang Min of South Korea upset third-seeded Prakash Padukone of India in the third round of the USS. Open Badminton Championships on Thursday.
In 2 match in which experience was outdone by speed and endurance, Phyun Kwang Min eliminated Padukone 15-9 1115 15-8 to go through to the last 16 at the first Grand Prix Badminton Tournament in the United States.
In another upset, his countrymen Bae Sang Yong beat seventh seed Zheng Shoutai of China 15-12 15-8.
Top seeded Sze Yu of Australia had no trouble ousting Yetsuaki Inoue of Japan 15-7 and second seed Luis Pongoh of Indonesia advanced easily over Canadian Marco Desjardins 15-4 15-2.
