CHANDIGARH: More than 1,700 candidates have filed nominations for the 170seat general house of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, going to the polls on October 13. According to the Gurdwara Commission, 1571 aspirants filed their nominations in Punjab excluding Patiala district, the information regarding which was awaited. Wednesday was the last day for the exercise. ‘According to the Commission secretary, S.S. Narang, ten seats in Haryana have attracted 116 candidates. Among the three plural seats there, Kurukshetra has received 11 nominations for the general seat and seven for the one reserved for a woman. Similarly, Sirsa has 16 candidates for the general seat and nine for the female category and Dabwali has nine candidates for the general constituency.
