NEPEAN, Ontario, Canada: May 29, 1988 (Sunday) was announced as the date for the elections. Pursuant to this order of the Executive Committee of the Society I (Tejinder Singh Dhillon) proceeded to conduct the election procedure. There were approximately 183 members present in the meeting and I called for the applications (Nomination Papers) from the Candidates.
All together ten applications duly completed were presented. On scrutiny one application was inadmissible for want of proper qualifications laid down in the Constitution of the Society and was therefore rejected.
There being only nine positions of Directors to be filled, all the remaining nine applications were accepted. Consequently, all nine were unanimously elected and declared as such and were introduced to the members.
Election Committee composed as under was unanimously selected by the Executive Committee of S. Tejinder Singh Dhillon Chairman; S. Baljinder Singh Gill Member; S. Avtar Singh Athwal Member; S. Sharanjit Singh Aujla Member; Mrs. Kuldip Kaur Jandi Member;
Appended below is the list of the Board of Directors thus elected:
- Inderjit Singh Sambi; S. Darshan Singh Muhar; S. Gurmohan S. Sandhu; S. Jhalman S. Sidhu; S. Amrik S. Dhami; S. Bhagat S. Bhandal; S. Joginder S. Jaswal; Sardarni Mohinder Kaur Hothi; Sardarni Jasbir Kaur Bhinder.
After a formal vote of thanks from the outgoing Board of Directors and the Incoming Directors the meeting was closed. This election meeting was conducted with Sardar Kuldip Singh Bhangu in the chair, the President Paramjit Singh (Pammi) having earlier re’ signed due to an argument and asked Sardar Kuldip Singh Bhangu, vice President, to carry on the proceedings.
