NEW DELHI (PTI):The government last week clarified that the new open sky policy did not in any Way provide access to international airlines to operate in the domestic sector civil aviation and tourism minister Ghulam Nabi Azad informed the Rajya Sabha (Upper House).

He said the new policy had opened the Indian sky only to the domestic operators. Azad said he was making the clarification in the wake of reports in various quarters that the new policy had opened the Indian sky for international air carriers.

Regarding non-resident Indians starting air taxi service in the country Azad said there was one proposal with 40% foreign equity participation under consideration of the government.
