 Dear Singh Sahib ji,

The Honorable guests, brothers and sisters,

On behalf of the Governing Council of the World Sikh Organization (international), the Sikhs of our great nation, the United States, and the International Sikh Secretarial, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you today (o the inaugural ceremony of the newly established Guru Nanak Sikh Reference Library located within the International Sikh Secretariat, This is an especially auspicious occasion since it allows us to redevelop the Sikh Reference Library which was destroyed at the hands of the Indian firmed forces, within 48 hours following the brutal assault on the Sikh nation, Darbar Sahib Complex and other Gurdwaras in Punjab, Khalsa, the Sikh people lost invaluable artifacts and literature located within the library’s archives and associated museum. This was a deliberate attempt to destroy the Sikh heritage, and people by humiliation and systematic annihilation that We are proud to declare unsuccessful Despite their desire to avoid negotiating with political foes, our resurrection of the Sikh Reference Library is the first step toward making the New Delhi administration acknowledge that their betrayal of the Sikhs will not go unanswered.

With the tireless effort of my brothers and sisters whose determination and never-ending cooperation is a tremendous inspiration, the Sikh Reference Library has been established in the United States, as a Division of the International Sikh Secretarial, to serve people interested in the Sikh policy, culture, faith, heritage, and scholarship. We, the Sikhs of the United States, are grateful to Almighty, Waheguru ji, for fulfilling this dream.

I hereby request you to officiate this inaugural ceremony and declare the Sikh Reference Library open in Washington, D.C. on this 14th day of August, 1994.

Please accept my heartfelt Congratulations on the opening of the Sikh Reference Library. The Sikh Reference Library will not only give all Americans an opportunity to experience the Sikh culture. IC will also allow us all to share in the religious, Cultural and economic contributions of our Sikh-American friends.
