NEW DELHI: Elections to various posts in the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), will be held at the two day general assembly of OCA in Beijing on September 27 and 28, according to Air vice Marshal (Reid) Chaman Lal Mehta
Air Marshal Mehta told reporters here Wednesday that the elections were due even before the death of OCA president Sheikh Fahad and the dates and venue had already been decided.
But to perform the formal role of OCA president during the Beijing Asian games, a temporary president would be elected at a special meeting called for the purpose on September 19.
The new office bearers, elected on September 27 and 28, will start functioning on October eight, the day after the Beijing ‘Asiad ends, he added,
NEW DELHI: Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Chaman Lal Mehta, secretary general of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), said Monday the extraordinary bureau meeting of OCA will be held at the Palace Tower Hotel in Beijing on September 19.
He told PTI here that be had received confirmation of the date and venue from the hosts, the Chinese Olympic committee.
‘According to him, the agenda would be:
- To take note of the sad demise of OCA president, Sheikh Fahad AlAhmad AlSebeh.
- To consider temporary appointment of a senior vice president, if necessary
- To consider opening of nominations for OCA presidency and setting a deadline, if necessary, for the purpose.
