Journalist: Mr. Ambassador, Stephen Solarz, a U.S. Congressman (Democratic) has nominated the Indian Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi, for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Ambassador: That’s right.

Journalist: He has made the nomination in appreciation of the peace accord that Rajiv Gandhi forced upon the Sri Lankan President Junius Jayewardene.

Ambassador: Very correct.

 Journalist: Will the Hon. Congressman make a similar nomination if tomorrow Khomini forces peace upon Iraq on his own terms? Don’t you think the Congressman should have first met the religious minorities of India who are ruthlessly being butchered by Rajiv before making such a wild nomination?

 Journalist: Mr. Ambassador, Former Defence Minister of India, Mr. V.P. Singh disclosed at a meeting in Ahmedabad that 72 lakh rupees a year is spent by Amitabh Bachchan and his brother on the education of their six children in Switzerland.

Ambassador: That’s right.

 Journalist: He also said that Congress has changed its program of “Garibi hatao” to “Ajitabh bachao”.

Ambassador: Very correct.

Jouranlist: Why is Rajiv Gandhi so keen to save Bachchan brothers? Is it because he might himself be involved in the scandal? Ambassador:

Journalist: Mr. Ambassador, making a statement in the Parliament, Rajiv Gandhi declared that “neither I nor any member of my family have received any considerations in these (Bofors) transactions. That is the truth”.

Ambassador: That’s right.

Journalist: ,But he is using all his powers to prevent the opposition from procuring the names of those who were paid commission by the Bofors.

Ambassador: Very correct. Journalist: Does it mean he is afraid of the truth even though he claims to be telling the truth? Do you think he can keep the Indian people indefinitely in the dark?
