NEW DELHI,(PTI):The Babri Masjid Movement Coordination Committee (BMMCC) has affirmed that it would not accept any formula which is evolved by the prime minister by holding negotiations with only one of the parties to solve the controversial Ayodhya dispute.

In an emergency meeting held here July 25 in the wake of Prime Minister P.V.Narasimha Raos discussions with the VHP leaders and saints, the BMMCC urged him to initiate negotiations with both the parties on the Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute.

It said the negotiations must be preceded by an immediate and unconditional halt to the ongoing kar seva (voluntary work) near the disputed complex in Ayodhya.

The meeting also said it was the constitutional obligation of the center to intervene to stop the continuing violation of supreme court orders at Ayodhya.

The BMMCC convenor Syed Shahabuddin, said any construction work at any part of the disputed land was illegal.

Shahabuddin regretted that the mosque (built by the Mughal emperor Babur in the 16thcentury) was being described as the disputed structure in the official media and said the issue was not the protection of the structure but “restoration of Babri Masjid to the Muslim community.”
