BHUJ: Congress I leader Rajiv Gandhi Wednesday said he would take a decision within a few days on his party’s stand with regard to the Janata Dal (S) in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh including whether to continue its support to the Mulayam and Chimanbhai ministries there respectively.

I will soon have consultations with my party leaders of both the states and those in the high command and take a decision Gandhi told newsmen here.

The former prime minister later launched his party’s election campaign in the West Indian state of Gujurat by addressing a public rally here

The meeting was marked by persistent slogan-shouting by the Hindu fundamentalist Bharatiya Janata Party and Bajrang Dal activists who raised slogans in support of the demand for a Temple of Lord Rama in the holy town of Ayodhya in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh

Gandhi told the rally that Congress (I) was the only party which could provide a stable government at the center The two Janata Dal regimes in the last 15 months had neglected the basic problems of the country and complicated the economic and law and order situations he said.

Gandhi who flew in here after a two-day election campaign in the western state of Rajasthan will address meetings on Thursday in Junagadh Porbandar Jamnagar and Rajkot districts in Gujurat and move into the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh on Friday morning.
