AMRITSAR, India: The executive committee of the S.G.P.C. has replaced the heads of Takhts of Kesgarh Sahib, Anandpur Sahib, and Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabo near Bathinda besides the head priest of Akal Takht. S. Harinder Singh, acting President of S.G.P.C. told newsmen after a four hour meeting of the executive committee that both Harcharan singh Mahalon of Takht Kesgarh Sahib and Lakha Singh of Takht Damdama Sahib have been relieved of their duties as they had crossed the age of superannuation which had been fixed earlier at 60 years. Pritam Singh, Head Priest of Akal Takht, had proceeded earlier on long leave. S. Davinder Singh belonging to Ladhapur village in Gurdaspur district had been appointed as the acting Jathedar of Takht Kesgarh Sahib. S. Jaswant Singh Jabharwal also of Gurdaspur district has been appointed as the acting Jathedar of Damdama Sahib and S. Kashmira Singh who is working as a head priest at Tarn Taran Gurdwara has been appointed as the acting Head Priest of Harimandir Sahib.

  1. Harinder Singh parried questions on why they have been appointed only as acting Jathedars and whether they would be confirmed by the Sarbat Khalsa on January 26.
