JAMMU: The Jammu Kashmir government has decided to send more security forces to Mahore in Udhampur district where the people of a particular community are migrating fearing attack by militants, The decision was taken at a meeting of senior officials chaired by the divisional commissioner for Jammu region, B.R. Kundal, to review the security arrangements in the region, in view of the coming assembly elections.
Official sources said that these forces would be deployed at vulnerable places. More village defence committees would be set up and villagers would be equipped with arms for self defence in the tehsil, they added. Over 600 families have so far migrated from various parts of the tehsil. The worst affected areas include Deda, Dhannore, Khannikot, Chaglas, Darmari, Thrupatian, Chalad, Sawalakote and Sangaldan.
