PATIALA: The Indian minorities and Dalit Front, Punjab, has expressed surprise over the changing stance of Kanshi Ram who had been describing the BJP as “Manuwadi” party while addressing election gatherings in Punjab during the by election for the Gidderbaha Assembly seat.
The front has said that the BSPBJP alliance had exposed the dual policy of the BSP, and it has affected the interests of minorities in Punjab.
Kanshi Ram had recently cautioned the Akali Dal against any political alliance with the BJP, but a few days after, has agreed to have a BJPBSP alliance in Uttar Pradesh.
The BSP had supported the Akal Dal candidate in Gidderbaha by poll on the grounds that the latter would not join hands with the BJP at any cost. The Sikh Students Federation (Mehta Chawla) has decided to contest elections to the Delhi Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee indirectly by choosing only those Sikhs against whom no corruption charges were leveled in the past. The federation feels that the DGPC elections would have a far-reaching effect on Sikh politics in the future.
The federation has set up a team to collect details or candidates who are likely to win contribute to the Sikh society. It has urged Sikh organizations to come forward in selecting only the deserving in the elections.
