AMRITSAR: The five member Panthic Committee (Manochahal) and three militant organisations said that they would consider Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar’s offer for talks on Punjab if Parliament appointed a committee for holding negotiations.
In a statement here, they said talks with any political leader belonging to a particular party or any other group could not guarantee that the entire country would accept the agreement.
They suggested that the talks should be held in Geneva.
Leaders of the Panthic Committee, the KCF (Rajasthani), the Dashmesh Regiment of Khalistan and the Sikh Students Federation (Butter), said the Prime Minister ‘was not serious as he made the offer while talking casually to reporters.
”The Prime Minister must clarify his offer whether he wanted to talk to leaders of the Khalistan movement,” they said.
The leaders said: “all talks have certain issues to discuss and we must be clear that the issue under discussion is in relation to the Sikh comParliament must be prepared mentally for this issue.”
They said the Prime Minister should with the first call a special session of Parliament to discuss the Indian union. The Prime Minister, his party and status of the Sikh majority region.
