NEW DELHI: The Sikh militant movement appears to be spreading to U.P. and Madhya Pradesh after the Pilibhit fake encounters in which the U.P. police killed 11 Sikhs after arresting them recently.

Babbar Khalsa International Chief Sukhdev Singh in a statement circulated to the media claimed that Bhai Mohinder Singh Bijiwal and Bhai Sher Singh Patti along with certain other Babbars engaged the U.P. police in a gun battle lasting 13 hours in Bijnaur district. The battle resulted in 15 U.P. policemen dead and 20 injured. The B.K.I. did not reveal if its own volunteers suffered any loss in the confrontation.

The Panthic Committee associated with Dr.Sohan Singh and -others in another statement said that its forces killed a Madhya Pradesh police inspector and three constables recently at Wapal. This official was allegedly responsible for the killing of Bhai Sukhwinder Singh Sangha and his four associates some time ago.
